In this week’s podcast, I talked with midlife transition coach Mark Wigginton.

One of my favorite parts of the discussion was when Mark reminded us of how the skills you’ve already built never really leave you. You just don’t always know when they’ll show up again.

Mark asked me questions about my past work—from booking gigs as a musician to selling RVs—and pointed out how those same skills show up today in how I sell, market, and connect with people.

That cold-call persistence I used on bar owners? Still works when pitching collaborations.

The way I handled objections back then? Still useful when explaining why an email list beats a social following (and brushing off snarky YouTube commenters)

If you think your old skills are irrelevant, think again. They’re part of your toolbox, waiting for the right moment to come off the shelf.

GPT-5 is out. But instead of summarizing the new features like everyone else, I want to give you something better.
